Girls Incorporated is committed to protecting your privacy and providing a safe online experience for all of its users at our free, members-only site, www.girlsinc-online.org. This Privacy Policy applies to information collected in connection with registration for or use of our website www.girlsinc-online.org. Our site includes content specifically designed for girls. Please review the information below to familiarize yourself with our privacy policies, and contact Girls Incorporated if you have any questions.
Girlsinc-online.org requires that girls register off-line, with parental approval, before they may use our site. A facilitator from one of our affiliates or partners can explain our registration requirements. You must provide your name, address, e-mail address, grade, birth date, phone number, and school name and address on our application form. Your parents must review and sign the form, and then a teacher, guidance counselor, or other authorized adult, such as a staff person from a Girls Inc. Online partner organization or a Notary Public, must verify your identity.
Our site is about and for girls. This application process is designed to assure that only girls ages 9-17 participate, and that participating girls and their parents understand and agree to adhere to our Code of Conduct and terms of participation. If at any time a parent or guardian wishes to update registration information or terminate a child’s membership in Girls Inc. Online, she/he may do so by contacting us at the address below. All requests to review and update information about your child must be in writing, signed by you, and include your full name, address, and phone number, along with your child’s e-mail address. Proper identification is required. Requests may only be made by the parent/guardian who originally registered his or her child.
Once they become members, girls can use our site without providing any additional personal information online. We use filters and spot-checking in an effort to prevent girls from posting personally identifiable information about themselves, but cannot guarantee that this process will always prevent a girl from posting personally identifiable information on the site. Additionally, to provide a rich personalized experience at www.girlsinc-online.org, we track online responses for all registered members, including, activity and game responses, preference settings, content submitted, poll answers, discussion board responses, and other data. This information is only accessible by Girls Inc. Online staff and its agents who make the site and content available and is used to help us enhance our offerings and to assess award applications. Registration information is available only to Girls Inc. Online staff, its agents who make the content available, and to local partners in your area so they can gauge progress of the program and provide assistance if necessary. We require those having access to personally identifiable information to sign agreements to keep your information confidential.

Girls Inc. will use the information to administer membership and to improve content and offerings at the site. For members who participate via a partner site, their application information will also be shared with the partner site. This allows us to provide information relevant to our partners and to the site. We do not include personally identifiable information in these reports. We will never share your application information with a third party for marketing purposes. We reserve the right to share information as needed to protect our site, visitors, and third parties, as outlined below.
As a non-profit organization committed to serving girls, we pay special attention to protecting the privacy of visitors under age 13. As noted above, participation at this web site is limited to girls whose parents have signed a consent form. A girl’s identity must be verified by a third party.

We will occasionally update this Privacy Policy as necessary to maintain the highest protection for our users and to comply with a changing environment. We recommend that you check the policy when you visit our site to be sure you are aware of and understand our current policy. If we make material changes to this policy or in how we will use or collect your personally identifiable information, we will prominently post such changes prior to implementing the change.
