Please read this Code of Conduct carefully! By becoming a member, you agree to follow it. We promise to make it short and sweet.
Girls Inc. Online gives you lots of opportunities to express yourself and make new friends in a safe environment. Be smart about what information you share. Anything that’s considered “personally identifiable,” such as your full name, e-mail address, town, or phone number is not allowed. Neither is giving your user name and password to someone else, allowing him or her to access the site.
Girls Inc. Online was designed to be a safe and fun community for girls. We need your help to keep it that way. It’s ok to have a different opinion or point of view, but it is not ok to be disrespectful to any member of the community. Also, remember that the ideas expressed on the boards and through private messaging belong to the girl who wrote them, not Girls Inc.
The boards and posts will be spot-checked by Girls Inc. staff, but if you see anyone posting something offensive, threatening, vulgar or dangerous, it’s your responsibility to let us know. Trying to hack, spam, or in any other way damage the site, or prevent other members from logging on is also prohibited. If this code is violated, we may issue you a warning about your behavior via e-mail or terminate your registration! This is a community that you help create, and we trust you to keep it fun and safe for yourself and all your new friends!
There are some serious topics discussed on the site. We want you to share your ideas and opinions with other girls, but since this is a virtual community, it is not the place to seek help for serious problems. If you are dealing with a difficult situation, go to an adult you trust – whether it’s a parent, other relative, teacher, guidance counselor or friend’s parent – and ask for help. A trusted adult will be better able to help you with your questions and steer you to the right resources.
If you do see another girl posting about a difficult situation in her life, let the web administrator know. It’s not telling, it’s being responsible, because Girls Inc. Online will try to provide her with information on resources where she can get the help she needs.
So now that the rules are out of the way, you’re one step closer to logging on! Thanks for registering with Girls Inc. Online and have fun!
